The experience has taught me that when I receive an annoying email, I should leave it there, not respond immediately, and focus on something else. After a few hours, with a clear mind, I'll probably have the right approach to respond politely and thoroughly. Reacting impulsively in such cases is counterproductive and can only cause unnecessary frustrations.

If you send a professional email introducing two people—one senior and one junior—who do you expect to write the next "thank you for the introduction" email?

Let's say neither requested the introduction; you just think the two people would like to know each other (but you asked permission from the senior person).

In addition to the swamp of emails I receive on a daily basis that must be waded through, having to also wade through countless "Congrats" and "Thanks" that appear via Reply All unintended for me is like getting sprayed in the face for 8 hours with a marshmallow gun. Yes, they might just be fluff, but they're fucking incessant and distracting.

Academic’s war on email niceties alerts colleagues to Russian hack attempt

Which email platitudes would you ban? And would Philly and MacLean have been caught earlier if corduroy had been banned?

When you write, "please complete on or before EOD Wednesday or Thursday", I read "please complete by Friday, 9am at the latest"

We need to state our clearly and unambiguously.

For the love of everything that is holy, please take a few seconds to (1) actually write a subject line in your emails and (2) make it specific so the recipients know what it's about (hence, its "subject") before even opening it. Include IDs, avoid generic terms.

The same applies to shared folders, file names, Slack channel names, etc.
