It's quite a coarse model, and there's no intention of being physically accurate, in the sense that it correctly models the lift and stall versus degree of attack of the foil, but it's still fun to see the "thickness" of the stall and the vortex street that emerges in the wake.

Started sketching out a roadmap for what will eventually become sparse #EmberGen 2.0.
The road to a pre-release/beta (which is already a lot further along than our initial early-access EmberGen Alpha back in November 2019) is looking manageable. With more than just me working on this we'll have more meaningful and consistent progress as well.
If all things go well we can have a beta release later this year, and the final 2.0 release some times next year (hopefully by Siggraph time).

Experimenting with EmberGen to generate flipbooks. I think it's pretty neat and also really easy to use.
Will keep trying stuff. I can interpolate a bit nicer between the 2 flipbooks too so its not as clear of a fade and follows the whispy-ness.

Gotta say that having a realtime simulation with a render preview is a big gamechanger.
I think I'll start rendering volumetrics a bit more with #eevee than with #cycles , I've been messing around with clouds from #embergen and after some tweaking I find these pretty nice! And of course very fast to render. The sky/sun is from the PSA addon, clouds from Embergen. I just added a Principled volume box and a Volume scatter box for that nice orange scattering and it's already looking warm and comfy. #blender

Sparse #EmberGen stress test on an RTX A6000. Too much of the VRAM was reserved, so I couldn't stress it to its absolute limit, but I did manage to pass 2 billion active voxels!

The RTX 6000 Ada should be approximately twice as fast, I reckon
The simulation itself is just too bandwidth heavy, and will probably chug at below 1 fps, while the visualization alonecan hopefully hit 10-15 fps eventually.
Working on some solver improvements for #EmberGen, which should reduce artifacts in cases with a lot of noise or vorticity. Still quite a lot of work left, but it's a great start.

Backporting some tech from sparse #EmberGen to version 1.0: Cubic interpolation for advection.
Sharper, less artifacts, and less dissipation compared to BFECC, and should be approximately the same runtime cost. The change will allow me to approximately double the voxel count as well.
