@mastodonmigration @DataDrivenMD maybe some of those accounts are using the option to delete (most) posts after a week/month? I rather like the #EmbraceEphemera approach, since it fosters engagement rather than clout-seeking. I do prefer to see at least a pinned post of some kind though.
Looking to move to a #NewInstance (again). Preferably smallish & run by someone who's been around for a few decades worth of forum migrations across different platforms and now just wants a quiet life with a bit of chat rumbling along in the background from folks who've also seen things come and go a few times.
Suggestions? I'm happy to find people again, and the fediverse branching/truncating/rebranching doesn't bother me in principle #EmbraceEphemera.
I may just blow the dust off my old website to keep track of where I'm hanging out.
Context: the screenshot below of this "Our Promise" 6-months shutdown notice was a major reason I chose to move to #MastodonAu after my first instance wasn't well-suited, so it's highly dispiriting to find today's shutdown-notice initially being announced as only 7 days notice and then only extended to 3 months after some prodding (by others before I even saw anything).

Am wondering whether to use the #AutoDelete older posts feature here and if I do what time period to choose... hoping to become less of a #DigitalPackrat (an apt description I just read). For those already doing this, what are the #FediTips pros/cons you've found?
I like the way it will emphasize less attachment to historical boosts/faves #EmbraceEphemera. Can always screenshot anything evergreen.
I also figure that #server admins are likely to appreciate the removal of old stuff so that their backups are more manageable.
Presumably scheduling reposts of my #Introduction and other informative #PinnedPosts before they auto-delete could be handy.
