@Stark9837 @IzzyOnDroid I barely tried #Plex once several years ago, and never went back. I then recently tried #Jellyfin, had so much trouble with it that someone recommended #Emby instead. It works a lot better and has less issues while more features, especially free ones.
Nothing is perfect, but if it doesn't make things harder it's at least worth to take a look at.

I realized that #DLNA may not support 5.1 sound properly. I found this out while I was watching a video from #Emby onto my Sony BluRay and there was no voice, because all was going through the center channel, which was silent.
I rather not want to use my Chromecast v1 because the 2.4GHz space is filled with overlapping channels.

Really disappointing that the #Android platform still has a 3 year old bug where Opus 5.1 audio is not played correctly (centre channel is incorrectly mapped to the right).

So #Plex was having issues playing back my #anime so I downloaded #Emby server, installed and set it up, liked it and bought the "Lifetime Sub"... all before finding out all I needed to do to get playback working was restart the client device. :awesome_rotate:

I'm kind of done with #Plex because it's shit, so I'm looking at alternatives. Since our media is all on an external HDD connected to our Shield TV, we.do t need something complex.

I feel like it's about time to move on from Plex. Iv'e used them for several years, but it just seems like lately they've lost their focus. Sure they release bug fixes for their Media Server from time to time, but no real new features, and all their focus is on other things that have nothing to do with it.

I've been testing Emby in my home network for a week or so, and I'm really thinking it'll work for me and the things I like to watch. I'm especially pleased being able to group multiple types of media from the same franchise together into a unified collection.

I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think for me, it's going to work out well.

Been using #jellyfin for a while now, so trying #emby instead. Currently promising results. Metadata fetching is better, but may require some tinkering for certain media.

Der neuste Dienst aufm #raspberrypi ist #jellyfin

Was ein geiles Stück software. Finde ich sehr nice. und lässt mich meine kleine Sammlung von Filmen und Serien von überall aus ansehen.

Und dank Hardwarebeschleunigung geht sogar das transcodieren im Browser. 1080p h264 mit ca. 1,2x speed lt. ffmpeg. Man sollte aber für ordentliche Kühlung des raspi sorgen!
