Over the last 2 decades, rainfall in Argentina has decreased in the west (in yellow, mostly in the mountains) and increased in the east (in green): see the #SMN report.

The emerging Andes hantavirus South variant is the only hanta in the world with occasional human-to-human transmission (estimated at 2.5% of cases with this variant); lower rainfall could reduce its prevalence in mountains.
