A couple of fun facts related to the cold open of the DS9 pilot.
- The Vulcan Captain of the Saratoga (where Sisko was the XO of) was played by JG Hertzler (credited as John Noah Hertzler). We will see him as General Martok later on the show.
- This is one of the rare times we see an opening text crawl on TV Trek. VOY’s “Caretaker” also started with an opening text crawl.
