Among the “Did you know…” facts shared by @Wikipedia today is this reminder that life during a period of #EmpireBuilding is short and shitty for everybody except the monarchy/oligarchy (same thing) doing the empire building:
“Only 45 per cent of babies born in 1851 in Victorian-era Liverpool, England, lived to be 20 years old?”

And at the time, #LifeExpectancy in #Liverpool and #Manchester was 25 years!

Just to be clear, the #SEC isn't trying to "destroy" crypto per se. If enforcement was what they cared about they'd be chasing after frauds and scams like #FTX and #dokwon.

In fact, they don't seem to give a flying fuck about protecting consumers or the market.

What they're doing is #empirebuilding. They want crypto declared a security so it falls under their remit and they can get a bigger slice of the federal #funding pie.
