If #interspecies #war sounds like a concept that only exists in #scifi and #fantasy, remember that humans have fought wars against #emus and #whales.

The book #MobyDick was, at the time, #RealisticFiction about the ongoing counter-attacks that #SpermWhales were doing against anything that looked like a #whaling ship, and the ongoing efforts of the whaling ships to fight them, effectively a war between whales and #whalers.

It's not fiction, it's the result of #specieism.

Driving south of Bateman's Bay today, through the Eurobodalla National Park and saw an Eastern Grey #kangaroo hop across the road and bound over a paddock fence, then saw a small wallaby (pademelon?) in clifftop scrub, then a pair of #emus in long grass between a paddock and the road, and then some #seals basking on the breakwater at Narooma and casually frolicking in the waters as the tide changed. Also many many birds. Hurrah for the south coast and #Aussie wildlife.

Just passed a fine hour (of our two day drive from Qld to Vic, 1500km) listening to Sarah Kanowski on ABC Radio interviewing Deborah Frances White, comedian and Guilty Feminist podcaster. About ten minutes in I had a blood-chilling fear (unfounded except for the word feminist), that this lovely-sounding person might have a horrid definition of feminism. She doesn't! She is delightful!
