You hear a giggling underfoot. 20min of conversation gets we're no closer to understanding if these are mostly mindless simulacra or fully sentient but too dumb/aloof to get anything from. They hint at an awareness of a very wide area.

They may be a valuable resource if only we could figure out how to get anything from them.

Thinking about WW2 skirmish games as I have figures for a Brit platoon but not for opposing forces. Reading military memoirs, a common thread is that you generally don't know where the enemy is or how many until you come under fire.
Is there a game or mechanic that will generate opposing forces or random encounters e.g. civilians, animals, friendly or allied, etc. ?
