I get why this is the sort of story #scicomm publications want to run with, but it's really not a meaningful question in #linguistics, and trying to make it more answerable by basing #language age on #languages with #writing is not the greatest message as it implies that many of those unwritten #endangeredlanguages they mention have less value.

Como podemos ver, aun con los esfuerzos de 30 últimos años de documentación, hay muchas lenguas con poco casi nula documentación en Brasil. Day two of the #Tunica language #immersion workshop is done. It’s been the most well-attended Tunica immersion by far. I hope attendees continue to engage with the language through classes or just using Tunica words in everyday conversation.

The video of the language apprentices’ journey to becoming assistant language instructors is a good intro to the language program and (I hope) a great recruitment tool for learners and linguists!

Leaving today for for a three-day #Tunica language immersion workshop. I’m looking forward to seeing people I haven’t seen in person since the pandemic and to working with folks new to Tunica to make their first experience fun and rewarding.

I’m also eager to see (and likely marvel) at how well the assistant language instructors now speak the language.

My sister, who speaks English but no germanic languages, didn't understood a thing. It was quite a fun experience. I'm sad dialects and patois are getting extinct because I just love the diversity.
