Exciting news for the future of California's energy grid! There's a proposal to create a new regional grid operator that would be responsible for managing electricity supply and demand across the western United States. This new operator could help increase grid reliability, promote the integration of renewable energy, and provide economic benefits for California.

"the US needs to expand electricity transmission systems by 60% by 2030, and may even need to triple current capacity by 2050 to accommodate a rapidly increasing supply of clean energy and meet growing power demand for EVs and electric home heating, as well as reduce power outages from severe weather due to climate change."

Welp. Our electric coop did warn us that we might be among 150 customers who would lose power for the night at 10pm. Apparently some work needs to be done by BPA (the Bonneville Dam folks) upstream. Looks like they weren't kidding.

Glad we have the standby generator. Curious to see how much propane it will suck down by morning.
