Here it is the 23th already, but the township zoning commission hasn't removed their sign.

I kinda feel I would use dreamt to refer to a dream I had, and I would use dreamed to refer to aspirations or hopes that I had. For example:
I dreamt that I ate a giant marshmallow.
I dreamed there would be giant marshmallows here.
Is that weird?

Dreamed
Dreamt
Drempt
All are acceptable and have the same meaning. (The final two are alternative spellings, though dreamt is far more common.) "Dreamed" and "dreamt" may have equivalent meanings, but they don't have the same … feel. I suspect speakers/writers where English is a second language don't hear it the same as native speakers. Dreamt has a certain panache.

Every C in Pacific Ocean is pronounced differently.
Yeah, cultural differences can be challenging.
Tip for Americans: If you're traveling to Australia, and you need razor blades, go to the store, and say, "rise up lights!"

Apparently, Merriam-Webster's #Dictionary hyphenates the word mm-hmm "used to indicate agreement, satisfaction, or encouragement to continue speaking." I'm wondering how folks at the Chicago Manual of Style and Associated Press feel about that. I'm also curious if or when mm-hmm will go the way of "email" and other previously hyphenated primary spellings.

@sirsean @DocCarms #englishisweird language and it has taken me a long time to tell the difference. There are still some words I don't know the difference of so I avoid them. Then there are words like inflammable and flammable which mean the same thing! #englishlanguage #englishishard English makes absolutely no sense. #writerproblems #writing #writer

On a phone call today, I heard someone put the stress on the 3rd syllable in discrepancy, and it took my brain a good 3 seconds to figure out the word. Overall, his accent is almost non-existent, so it made this all that much more noticeable.
This experience made me aware of how important syllable stress is. As USAian native-English speaker, this is something that I don't think I'd ever given much thought to before today. #EnglishIsHard #English
Is it a sign of decrepitude or just that I’m out of touch ….
I’ve seen the word Prolly twice today & I had to look it up!
Even worse, auto-correct knows it as a valid word!
Prolly ‘cause I’s up with the adults (as opposed to down with the kidz) 🫣🤭

Fun fact*: The word sugar is the only word in the English language where “su” makes a “sh” sound.
*I’m sure there’s no issue with that.
It’s humour is based on the ongoing argument over the value or validity of the serial comma.
Upon first reading, one might think that three separate entities are present, with the revelation that there are only two providing the joke.
