Very much enjoying #ProvingGround by #KathyKleiman - this is the story of the ENIAC 6. I have read a good bit about #ENIAC but this is the first account that centers the women who brought it to life.

In a refreshing change of perspective, Mauchly, Eckert, Goldstine, von Neumann etc are all in rather peripheral roles and only appear from time to time.

So we did enjoy the storage exhibits at the #ComputerHistoryMuseum today. The sign next to the 5.25” floppy said 100KB but the label on the disk says 1.2MB. Oops. But still it was fun to fortune son with a walk through memory lane.

And core memory never fails to fascinate me. Mercury delay line memory. Sigh. Much and how little has changed over the decades of computing. And deep down there’s a little #ENIAC in all of them.
