Enmity is irrational. It closes off the goods of friendship, and exhausts one's energies in combat rather than self-interested pursuits.

It is also immoral: enmity tends to lead us toward treating other persons as less than persons, denying them the basic respect persons deserve.

You only have to do two things to get along remarkably well with another person:

First, never treat them with contempt, but always take them seriously, and respect them as a human person.

Second, pick up their bids: when they reach out to you, in any way, for any reason, respond at minimum with an acknowledgment and recognition of their bid or request (though more and positive response is better).
