Any #entomologists or #entomology folks can help me pseudo-ID a bug?
I saw it come into the bathroom from under the baseboards, there's a small gap area.
Dark colour, possibly 1cm size, small "but a large small", moved fast. It came in, stopped, and went RIGHT back into the same hole.
Now I'm fearing it's bedbugs but that seems unlikely, I've been in this place a few months now... But what could it have been?? Didn't seem like a cockroach ...
Thanks!

Gift link to WAPO article on LED’s and light pollution. Q for #Entomologists of Mastodon, these are bad for bugs too, right? https://wapo.st/3Pv6kA8
@entsocamerica@arthropod.social I release OE negative monarchs each year. I am also a bit of a hobbyist entomologist as I love all bugs. Here's to gettin buggy with it! lol

To start, I am a bit nuts.
I've been finding dying #Palmettobugs (AKA #AmericanCockroach) in my house. I've left them alone thinking something is killing them and I suspect it's #EnsignWasps (my absolute favorites) their natural predators.
So, #entomologists and #naturalists, since Ensigns breed in roach egg cases, I'm tempted to let them do their thing. Haven't seen actual #wasps this year, just the roaches. Think I should clean em up or let them be?

Have now gone down a rabbit hole to locate the little fiends responsible for eating the seeds of my Culvers root. Poor empty shells, so tiny, but I'm curious as to who this plant has been helping besides the pollinators!
Any #entomologists around that can shed any light on a possible seed eating invertebrate that loves Veronicastrum virginicum?

@futurebird oh, no! Please hang in there. Keep making the vids. That’s so important!! Maybe tag #entomologists #bugpeople so we can share more widely(?). We’re here! 🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻
Any budding #entomologists out there who can help identify this #beetle. He has a ‘horn’ and was about 1cm long.
Earnest #insect question, with priority given to #entomologists or folks in similarly #subarctic climates.
Every autumn, we get #moths taking refuge in our house. Very lethargic moths. They especially like to camp out on the window frames. I am currently watching one crawl around on the wall next to the woodstove.
What should I do? Should I gently put them outside like I do in the summer (it’s currently ~0°F outside)? Should I just let them slowly starve in the house? What do they want? Help!

If there are any other old #entomologists on here, who would like to connect, share #insect photos (with a CW), and generally chat buggy stuff, let me know.
My interests lie in #EPG (electrical penetration graph) technique and disease acquisition/transmission. Have previously worked in #pollination and #disinfestation technologies for market access.
