"Insects find their way onto Italian plates despite resistance"
Would you eat products made from insects?

I think if they're processed like this so it's an ingredient in something else and unrecognizable I might. Certainly I'd give it a try and judge based on the taste.
I wouldn't eat them unprocessed though. I'd have to be starving to be able to put something recognizable as an insect in my mouth. 🤢
Looking forward to some insect based meals. 🙂
"SINGAPORE – Foodies here may soon get to chomp on insects in eateries, or as fried snacks and protein bars. Also on the menu: silkworm cocoons.
Sixteen species of insects, such as crickets, silkworms and grasshoppers, will receive the green light from the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) for human consumption in the second half of 2023."

The Singapore Food Agency is working to allow insect based foods to be sold in Singapore.
"Most of us squirm at the idea of eating critters but, as a food-crazed nation that has tried and loved many strange things, is this really a bridge too far to cross?"

Around the world, at least 2 billion people routinely consume insects. One anthropologist believes geography and colonization can explain why some populations are too squeamish to stomach such foods. https://www.sapiens.org/culture/eat-bugs/ #foodanthropology #entomophagy #foodhistory

When I travel I try to sample local cuisine when possible. On a trip to Chiapas, México last year I was fortunate to have satz which is the larva of the giant silk moth Arsenura armida. Here is before and after cooking and it was very rich in flavor and delicious. #entomology #entomophagy

Ant collecting. Image 1 shows how Oecophylla smaragdina ants are collected. I often encounter collectors when I’m looking for bugs; ants even more often. The ants are usually fried and eaten with soy sauce; the eggs are eaten raw in salads or fried.
Image 2 is an extract from an academic paper describing how they are caught (details in alt text.) The method can be summed up in one word: carefully. #ants #insects #Thailand #nature #entomophagy

Insects may be officially approved as a food source in Singapore. Can't wait. 🙂
"The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) has started looking to allow the import and sale of insects and insect products for human consumption and animal feed in Singapore.
This means that some time in the near future, Singaporeans might be able to buy such products off local shelves and consume them wherever and whenever they want here. "
