I have 3 laptops that now need new distros, for one reason or another. I'm going to install Arch on my #Entroware Athena and Debian 12 on my #PinebookPro.

What would be a good 3rd base distro to install onto my #GalagoPro?

I'd like to #challenge myself to live in a different parent distro from the primary branches, on my main machines.

Same for the UK. Most of the lists I found when I was buying a #LinuxLaptop for Mrs Wife are US-centric and don't bother saying so.

On the recommendation of a friend, I eventually bought from #Entroware:

Mrs Wife is happy with the machine. However, the first thing I had to do was to repartition the SSD and reinstall #Linux, because I wanted #Luks, which wasn't set up by default. I chose #Fedora, rather than #Ubuntu, and it works well.

@Sliotar #Microsoft have created a lot of exposure by persuading #OEMs to pre-instal #Windows. Most newcomers to computers have never heard of #Linux, and think the only #choice is #Windows or #Apple.
But there are some companies pre-installing #Linux. #System76 #Entroware for example.

Today I am mostly looking for advice with regards to #laptop #batteries in #linux, specifically #zorin.

I think the battery isn't reporting it's state correctly. Any #tips to reset it?

According to acpi it was on 0% 30mins ago, after dropping from 99% to 20% in 5 mins.

It is still functioning fine, playing a film on VLC...

@kev @junocomputers I have the #entroware version, and it is a great wee computer but the power button location is irritating as hell.
However, I love when mac fanboys at work draw breath to make a criticism (because it's not a mac so must be bad), and I just point at the ethernet port. They turn, and leave, with their dongles between their legs...

Anyone have any tips about using a laptop with a sim card onboard?
I'm running #bunsenlabs at the mo.

After putting it off for a while, I have just bought a new laptop: an #entroware apollo. The only one I could find in the UK with the 4G enabled.
V excited to have a working RJ45 and hopefully no more need for 4G dongles...

@mike I went for #System76 last time (6yrs ago) and the laptop is great, has been upgraded as much as poss and tech support is brilliant. Unfortunately, import taxes into the UK were very expensive. £130 tax on a £700 laptop! Ouchie.

Next time I'm thinking #entroware.
