This is an excellent gateway into environmental history for anyone interested in getting an intellectual scaffolding. What makes Guha's work strong is that it shows the movement as a global conversation. Probably its main flaw is that it was written in the late 90s / early 00 and has not been updated in a while. But still, one needs to start somewhere!

After a shortish break from work and social media after my contract ended in April, I've switched servers + trying to catch up with everything #envhist and #envhum.

Trying to be more active here, so to introduce myself: I'm an environmental historian working on the afterlives of whales, whale strandings and whaling. Most recently, I've been a postdoc at Uni of Leeds exploring the role of whales in Yorkshire's coastal heritage. Work is very much in the blue humanities & environmental humanities
