Did a Costco run in my #Envomask elastomeric #N95 and surprised to see a couple of employees actually wearing masks. But it was concerning to me that they were cloth masks; anyone who’s kept up with #Covid developments in the last year or so knows how ineffective those are.
I thought about the last time I tried to convey this info to someone and basically got nowhere. Why should I bother? But couldn’t help myself; this guy’s obviously trying to protect himself.
Nope. He thinks he’s fine. Sigh.
I am delighted to see the #EnvoMask
meets Project N95’s criteria.
This makes me so happy. I love this mask (as much as one can love a mask).
@anne_twain @rchusid @IngoHeinscher yep I have an Envo Mask in addition to disposable KN95s. The Envo mask maker says the filters are only good for eight hours, but it also says you know they are dirty if you have difficulty breathing through them. It would get expensive if I worked full-time and changed the filter after every workday, but as someone disabled by MECFS, it can take me WEEKS to use a filter for 8 hours.
And let me tell you, the #EnvoMask is so comfortable to breathe in that I wasn’t sure it was sealed correctly. I did a fit test with some smoke and I almost suffocated myself. They also sent me valve plugs because when I purchased mine they didn’t make them yet. I didn’t want to buy a 10 pack so I emailed them to ask them if I could just purchase one, they sent me a couple for free.
Well, my wife & I got to visit our old friend group again, outside, but with airflow too limited for us to be comfortable sitting there unmasked. I had my #Envomask and she had a KN95, and the mild occasional breeze was at our backs.
It was nice to see everyone, but there’s no denying the awkwardness of being the only ones masked in a group of people who once took #Covid seriously. They were as polite as could be, but it puts a real “us vs them” vibe to the whole thing.
I’m so tired of this.
3/🧵
…do all those people really have no idea that they have essentially zero protection against infection, no matter how many boosters they’ve gotten? Or that the #vaccines only reduce their odds of #LongCovid by about half? Does that make the remaining half somehow acceptable to them?
A few days of doing the thousand-yard stare past all those naked snouts looking at my #Envomask #elastomeric #N95 was more than enough. Masked for every bathroom visit, the store, getting takeout, even trails.

Sorry, but I have to add that it feels great to be nearly old enough for the senior discount and still be able to keep track of 30 thousand fucking lines of #code.
If I got #Covid that might no longer be the case, and that would suck.
I would like people with #LongCovid to know that at least this one random person has changed his lifestyle because of their testimony. I mostly stay on my rural property (thankful for it!) and wear an #envomask #elastomeric #N95 anytime indoors when I'm not here.

I would like to make a T-shirt to wear with my #Envomask #N95 #elastomeric #respirator that says the following:
———
No cough.
Never sick.
Sharp as a tack.
Everything works fine.
And you think I’m the crazy one??

My #pandemic #PPE kit for first eye exam in 4 yrs:
1. #Envomask #N95 #elastomeric. Fit tested 100% seal, even w my close-trimmed beard.
2. #Enovid anti-viral nasal spray, used before & after.
3. Sealed goggles when not getting actual exam.
3. Bausch & Lomb eye wash, to flush out eyes immediately after.
4. Hand sanitizer & mouthwash, because why not.
Also: N95 masks to bring for staff who graciously agreed to wear them for me.
“Everyone’s had #Covid by now.” No, I haven’t. This is why.

At the pharmacy this morning, wearing my #EnvoMask and sealed 3M goggles, I ask the technician who hands me my meds if she knows about the limitations of her cloth mask. The pharmacist isn't wearing a mask at all and so I figured she's trying to protect herself--sensibly so.
"I just wear what I've got," she replies.
"Well, the #KN95 is widely available," I say. Not the best choice, but way better.
"Yeah, I just wear what I've got."
Some people just cannot be helped. #Covid likes this.
She doesn't go anywhere but for groceries, and washes and masks when she does. She had no symptoms of any kind before leaving.
But she did not test regardless. Nor did I think to ask her.
I'm not angry at her. I can't be. I'm more resigned than anything, and can only hope the measures I took will be enough in the end.
I disinfected what I could, said fuck the plastic and ordered CR box components and Lysol wipes, and wore my #Envomask from her test result all the way to bed and through sleep.
I bought an #EnvoMask back in the spring, but I could never get it to fit or seal. My nose bridge is too high, and my glasses didn't work.
I'm considering a #FlowMask.
Has anyone tried both who can share their experience?
I have #MECFS, and have worked diligently to stay safe from #COVID. I have permanently declined from each viral infection I've had in the last 20 years.
Kimberly-Clark N95 pouch respirators work well for every day use. Looking for an even safer option out in the world.
