Heute dann mal wieder ein bisschen #EnvHist / #EnvTech #Diss. Habe noch ein paar #Quellen aus #SãoPaulo zu verschiedenen #Arbeitsgruppen, die #Masterpläne erarbeitet haben und die ich einbinden muss.
Zwischenzeitlich habe ich aber auch ne Pause zum #Biathlon gucken gemacht und währenddessen noch nen leckeren #Apfelkuchen (lies: #AppleCrumble mit nem fluffigen Boden) gebacken….

Thanks a lot to Noémi Ujházy for organizing the @eseh #ESEH #Nextgate Co-Writing Days for @histodons 😍 It really helped me focusing on revising a sub-chapter of my #EnvHist / #EnvTech #thesis. I was so motivated that I even did an extra session after dinner… Looking forward to the 2nd day tomorrow! 🤩 It’s the second time that I am taking part in the event and it’s so great to co-work in a safe space with dedicated researchers who are working on super interesting projects!

Nach komplett arbeits- und #Diss freien Feiertagen #DieHellenDinge habe ich mich heute endlich um #Scheibschulden für einen Blog gekümmert, die ich aufgrund von #SpeakUpOstbelgien zu lange vor mir her schieben musste. Arbeitstitel: “Wie ich einen brasilianischen #Ingenieur um den Schlaf brachte“- Es geht um die #Verschmutzung der innerstädtischen #Flüsse in #SãoPaulo, sprich #Tietê, #Tamanduateí & #Pinheiros, mit der ich mich auch in meiner #envhist / #envtech Diss befasse. Die @histodon Zoom-Schreibgruppe, die Marie initiiert hat, ist ein Segen! Die Atmosphäre ist super wertschätzend. Obwohl ich es nicht immer schaffe, hilft sie mir dabei, wieder ans #Schreiben zu kommen. Heute habe ich mit meinen 🇧🇷 Quellen für die #EnvHist / #EnvTech / #EnvHum #Diss gearbeitet und dabei sogar neue Wörter, selbst auf 🇩🇪, gelernt. Ich sage nur #Schleudergussrohr. Inspiriert von der Morgen-Session habe ich mittags Überstunden abgebaut & im Cafe weitergeschrieben #DieHellenDinge

Worked from 🏡 today & finished earlier. Had a coffee break with fresh mint tea & a pastel de nata, while doing some research for the last chapter of my #EnvTech / #EnvHist #histodons dissertation. Today’s portion was on institutional reforms & institution building in São Paulo‘s water utilities during the 1950-1970s, partly with #TechnicalAssistance and financial support of international organizations and national / state government funds…

My current project deals with the history of #creosote and railway #maintenance cultures. The material history of this coal tar oil – used until today for wood impregnation of railway ties & utility poles – combines research perspectives from the #histtech (such as on #maintenance and #repair) with #envhist and #materialhistory. Its name is connected today with dozens of contaminated land sites, tons of hazardous waste, and burning #environmentaljustice issues.
