#EnysMen Taken me a while to gather my thoughts… I love mosses, lichen, ancient standing stones & the atmospheric rock formations of #ThePeakDistrict. I really get a kick out of film makers who attempt to capture the look & feel of dreams that appear to have narrative structure.

#Today is a #WFH day, planning for #ArchivesAccreditation and trying to remember to take breaks from the screen. No photos taken so far.
Yesterday I was in the #archives inventorying an accrual that needs a lot of repackaging.
I also saw #EnysMen at the cinema, which was a trip. Abstract and dreamlike (but not entirely dreamy), its weirdness is still sinking in.
On my way to the cinema, I saw many #ChineseLanterns for #LunarNewYear in the trees around #FirstStreet.

@xanderl - this is the kind of online film content I love to find. I have Haunters Of The Deep so may well plan that double-bill when Enys Men is available for home viewing.

Enys Men is like the imprint of a spell transferred from the Cornish landscape to 16mm film. 'Folk Horror' doesn't really cover it. Worth the look. Beautiful soundtrack. Basically an art film #Art #Cinema #EnysMen

Saw Enys Men (2022) this afternoon. Really liked its mix of Cornish hauntology, unnerving soundtrack, and ghostly repetition.

The fact that Mark Jenkin followed up Bait with something that is defiantly experimental is to be applauded.

In 2023 I’m really trying to get back into enjoying and engrossing myself in films. So far this year started off so well with #Corsage, #Aftersun and The National Health. Tomorrow I’m intending to catch #Enysmen and #Tar. Home viewing has also been strong with Bhaji on the Beach c/o #Mubi and I’m going to finally get my 4K tv set up in February. I’m quietly confident I might finally start to enjoy my main hobby again after a 2 year blip..

Enys Men will need another watch to process my thoughts. A distortion of time & place, given body via a distinctive filming approach seen previously in Bait (And in the edit). As horror I'm unsure how successful this is but you have to admire the way Jenkin goes about things. #EnysMen #HorrorCinema

Call me old fashioned but I'm not posting end of year lists before the end of the year, too much still to see. Even then, I'll be nowhere close to having seen all the #films / TV that I'd like.

Eg #HorrorMovies I've not yet seen #Pearl (not out in UK til next year), #BonesAndAll, #CrimesOfTheFuture, #Watcher, #SpeakNoEvil, #Resurrection, #Hatching, #YouWontBeAlone, #EnysMen... and I've seen loads of good horror, it's been a great year
