Emergency response to climate disasters should automatically include public health actions to mitigate outbreaks. @dalias @petersuber Honestly, just remembering previous (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_air), and such, it should have been obvious that the moment / became possible, it should've been mandatory.

For sure masks as well, but we might well just... not have air-transmitted epidemics & pandemics anymore if was a basic thing one could assume to be good everywhere.

Want to massively reduce the risks of zoonotic viral outbreaks?

Stop trading animals!

I'm aware humanity isn't sufficiently cooperatively organised to establish a worldwide plant & fungi diet. But, that's the solution.

How virus and epidemics shaped not only human history but human evolution: A masterful synthesis of state of the art History, Archeogenetics, and Epidemiology. Wonderful reading (half way though it and dreading to reach the end).

Knowing that the French state owns 15.9% of merged with , I would have expected this airline to have standards when it comes to mitigating and . Especially with a haemorrhagic case, I mean we know some nasty viruses that do that....
But no, the famous French expression "je vous laisse faire" (I let you do it) has prevailed again.
So I'm going to give Air France top marks for spreading a plague:

CNN NEWS - 7/7/1981

Today in 1981, CNN aired what was probably the first national American TV news report on AIDS: a short piece about a rare skin cancer that had been diagnosed in 41 young gay men.

The Cable News Network was relatively new then: it had launched just one year earlier.

TODAY IN QUEER TV HISTORY

POSE - 6/24/2018, FX

In this episode: Early in the AIDS crisis, several characters get tested. Elektra finally has her surgery, over her boyfriend's objections. Two characters struggle with body-image insecurities. Script written by Janet Mock.

One of the things I love about POSE is that trans women were in the writing room and on the producing team early on. It makes all the difference when a group's stories aren't being told entirely by people outside that group's experience.

Here's the original promo video for the episode: youtu.be/UmAqgQRoJ5o

One more study using Twitter data for spread of , this on Dengue and situated in Indonesia: doi.org/10.1016/j.lansea.2023.. Would have been really nice to see if any induced change in mobility patterns had any effect. Also, the data is only available upon request! Why not make the method and data avaialble for greater reproducability?
