Apparently the claim going round now is that vaccines are making the virus worse because the virus is evolving to evade the protections they gave, therefore we are making it “fitter”. I’m not a scientist, and any #epidemiologist on here please feel free to jump in to correct me, but this seems silly. Surely the biggest problem is the staggering amount of infection, and re-infection, all around the world, enabling the virus to recombine endlessly because we’ve made near to zero effort to stop it? And secondly even if it were true that vaccines are spurring the new strains, surely the protections they give in the meantime are better to have than nothing?
