I'm down to the last chapter, which means 'Ada and the Singing Skull' will be done tomorrow. :catjam: And what a great way to clear up my birthday weekend (next weekend) because I've no intention of doing anything but read and be lazy for four days straight. I haven't treated myself to this kind of self-care for over five years now (long story, that -- but there *is* a reason why this is a thing for me as of late).

Once September rolls around, I'll get going with the revisions and edits, but for the final weekend in August, it'll be a wonderful NOTHING of an extended weekend.

One of the books I plan to write requires a deep dive into Renaissance madrigals, so that's what I'm listening to now. Granted, that book won't be out till 2025, but still -- Renaissance madrigals are good stuff.

The thing that dampens my energy a little, though, is the fact that after this book ('Ada and the Singing Skull'), I only have one more to write for the 'Ghosts and Tea' series before focusing solely on 'Grotesqueries'.

I studied epistolary fiction in college, loved it, and thought to challenge myself by writing an entire series in that form. I really enjoyed it, but even good things have to end someday. I still plan to make use of epistolary fiction in other genres, though, but still... I'll miss this weird-ass universe of Prue and Freddy's.

It's the first sequel to the five-book 'Ghosts and Tea' collection, but I did try to make it as reader-friendly as possible for those who didn't read the original series. So to them the story begins in media res and (hopefully) hits the ground running, and all the journal entries and letters help establish past and present.

It's a long novella (the only length I work with now) of 50K words, the e-book priced at 99 cents, and the print book at $9.00. Of course, I'll be posting the live link here once the day rolls around.

It's also epistolary fiction set somewhere in the mid-19th century. There's a touch of fantasy with subtle references to witchcraft, lots of ghosts, and it's a comedy. Anyway... there it is.
