In the calendar, tonight is not , but rather the beginning of the ninth month EQVOS, 'The Horse' month.

(Well, technically the 1st of Equos might have been 2 days ago by now, on the quarter moon 🌓).

I wonder if the name of this month might relate to the celebration of that comes before it, on 18 December.

There was also a similarly named Greek month called ῐ̔́ππιος (híppios).

On the eve of , I offered rose incense to and enjoyed some drinking afterwards 🍻. Today, I listened to a playlist of songs about Epona from Eluveitie, Enya (and yes even Zelda 🤫).

My friend @dianmanios was also so generous to make a proxy offering for me as part of the Bolgoi's Eponalia ritual today 🙏

Good morning Lovelies! Happy Eponalia!

December 18th is the feast day of Epona, the Gallo-Roman Goddess of horses. 🙏🐎 Epona was the first deity on my shrine, when I became a Pagan in 2005.

This piece is from 2018, one of the first cards I painted for Tarot Equus. 5 years on I might re-do, even just to see how far my artwork has evolved.

Among the , „whose vision of divinity was so polytheistic that the same name of a god or goddess is rarely found more than once, Epona is an exception, for statues and altars to her have been excavated across continental Europe, the center of her worship, and in Britain—more than for any other god or goddess of the .“

Happy , everyone! December 18th is the traditional feast day of the Celtic goddess , protector of horses, ponies, donkeys and mules. The Romans adopted her worship, particularly the cavalry (of course!). 1/
