English Heritage has today unveiled the latest London Blue Plaque, commemorating Emily Wilding Davison. The militant suffragette was the first high-profile martyr for women's suffrage in the UK, walking out in front of the King's horse at Epsom. The unveiling comes during a resurgence of the disruptive protest the suffragettes pioneered, and — fittingly — just days after disruption at the #EpsomDerby itself.
