Weird... thought there was a bit of an #eqnz during weekly team meeting earlier, but haven't seen anything anywhere.
Was kind of a low rumbling, higher freq vertical jumping type of thing.
May have just been more unannounced building works downstairs?
@dznz @sidawson @va2lam fwiw, I've seen a bit of that here in Ōtautahi in my almost 30 years here, too... however, I think it's pretty similar in every other city in NZ (and the colonised world, for that matter)... This is the only city I've wanted to live in in NZ - having been through #eqnz here, I'd never live in Wgtn, esp with A8 pending.
@witless I was sitting at a bus stop in #Wellington and felt the #eqnz. Person standing near me didn't feel it. My partner ar home was standing in kitchen. They didn't feel it but heard the plates rattling.
#eqnz we were just talking to builders who are here to regib a room in our old house about shaky old houses in #wellingtonnz when that one struck! 5.5 French Pass @geonet
@Phil_Tanner @lotographia I had a very frightening experience in a different apartment building in the city during the 2016 Kaikoura quake. Ever since then I'm on more of a hair trigger for getting under the table than I was prior to that.
#eqnz
My house is built on sand so it shakes more than the average so was a nice little shake #eqnz
@v_for_verbosity @lotographia I'm in Auckland and can confirm seeing the #eqnz on :mastodon:
I hope everyone's just shaken not stirred.
@lotographia not very fun on the fifth floor in Thorndon 😬
I was on a call to someone in Auckland so got under the desk instead of going for the table.
#eqnz
That one gave a bit of nudge then a long build up to a big shake, in central Wellington. #eqnz
wow that was a pretty clearly defined two parter… #eqnz
i’m not 100% sure it stopped yet
