I love the idea of traveling the length of the trail but I want an option to do it on foot. Yeah, it would be really hard but it would also be really worth it. 10 days as opposed to 8. It would be fabulous.

I have always liked this evocative scene of nocturnal travel past the cliffs of the Mohawk River:

These are freshwater Zebra mussels (Dreissena polymorpha) from the (NY). They are an that has been incredibly successful in the watershed, unfortunately. I collected these from near E15 (Canajoharie) yesterday.

Connecting the Erie Canal to the Niagara River required overcoming a number of civil engineering challenges. One of them was climbing over the Niagara Escarpment, an 80-foot high wall of limestone East of Buffalo.
