Neo-Freudian anthropologist #ErnestBecker was my introduction to scholarly thinking. That & my biblical studies led me to understanding how #scholarship could ask questions, but it wasn't until I returned to college & got farther along that I understood that much scholarship in the #humanities spends time uncovering causes rather than providing answers. #Research in #SocialSciences provides answers - that are often common sense, which only proves we are a limited species.

Thinking about #Womanist #LiteraryCriticism of Houston Baker's extension of "the black (w)hole" (see: Blues Ideology and Afro-American Literature) as essentially a hyper Neo-Freudian complex could be attached to the *warp nacelles* of the starships in #StarTrek. If we take an #ErnestBecker-infused approach, we can find #ScienceFiction tele-technology is a dream fulfillment of a perverse ideology of the future. This is #feminist thinking on masculinarity.
