The fourth feature from famed documentarist Errol Morris was partly an attempt to depict the ideas in Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time (1988) and partly a biopic of the renowned physicist. Along with footage of various talking heads (family members and academics), Morris masterfully edits together striking animations illustrating concepts (such as black holes and our expanding universe) with past photos and current footage of Hawking, aligning the two narratives.
