#ESAEuclid needs some further work its Fine Guidance Sensor software. The FGS system is a set of detectors and software that keeps the #Euclid spacecraft accurately pointing at the desired location. ππΏ ππ½ π There is work on this going on and since the pointing accuracy was not as good as required, #Euclid temporarily stopped its Performance Verification phase to get this sorted out. π€·π»ββοΈ

#ESAEuclid has successfully completed its #commissioning. A collaborative effort of #ESA, the @ec_euclid, and industry partners established communication π‘, turned on and checked both instruments, focussed the #telescope π, and tested spacecraft pointing π°οΈ.
This is now complete, and the teams have moved on to "performance verification", observing science-like sequences and calibration images.
