Second to last from the Unhuman series. Untitled, finished in 2020

I leaned into abstraction and emotion with this one rather than technicality and precision and it shows, but it was also a really great transition to a phase of my work where I began focusing more on honing specific skills and the spiritual/ritual aspect of things rather than just emotional venting or catharsis.

Confusion, grief, hysteria, being pulled apart from the inside. Who are you? How do you define yourself? You cannot be who you are, who you were, you must change. But how? To look like what? To behave in what way? What interests? What beliefs?

This is "Redegeneration" a meditation on rebirth in a figurative but also bleedingly literal sense
The stripping away of a life, a community, a family, a Self, so that a new one can be born
Silent for a few years and later, reflecting, told my partner "I was killing myself and just didn't have very much to say about it".

I had seven words written down, but I didn't know the strange letters facing me.

2 done, 2 to go... I'm happy with the main character texture. Most likely overcomplicated, but I got there at the end. I mixed a metal material with some subsurface scattering, and added some rock normal.
For the "cliff" I used some noise deformation on a vdb in houdini.
