is anyone using #HomeAssistant, #ESPresence and #ESPHome? I'm stuck, ESPresence works really well for telling me which room Fury is in, but can I collect the presence of his collar on a non-ESPresence BLE device, ESPHome for example, and still have it show in the same way on HA Dashboard?

It’d be great if they made a cheap zigbee CO2 sensor so we could embed a #esp32 running #espresence and use the co2 sensor as a case and parasitize its power supply

I have a couple I modded with #Tasmota on, and since I had one in my parts bin, one has a BME688 I put in while I had the #vindriktning opened up.

I wrote it up at https://unixorn.github.io/post/add-smarts-to-ikea-vindriktning-air-sensors/ but the hardest part was not stripping the screws in the plastic case.

Works great with #HomeAssistant and the tasmota integration.

I like the display on the vindstryka but I don't need another air sensor. Using them to house and power an ESP32 with #ESPresence is appealing though.

You could set up an #ESPresence node next to your front door with the sensitivity dialed down to one or two meters, then only unlock the door when the facial recognition and the espresence for one of your phones trigger at the same time.

After a restart our #espresence Apple #iOS identifiers disappeared. Here a quick post on how I restored them with mosquitto mqtt

Here's a little about one of my #projects, automating my home. I use #HomeAssistant as the brain, it's great, it allows me to mix and match components and as long as I have a dongle attached I can use any protocol, it's mostly ZigBee stuff these days, it's cheap & reliable. One of the holy grails of HA has been room occupancy, it's been a problem back since the days of X-10, but #espresence solves all that with your phone, watch or tag & a bit of maths.
