@wahoonie thanks, I'm really pleased with it! It's a complicated setup; Fury has a Tractive GPS collar tag that sends out BLE. This is recorded by a bunch of ESP32s around the house, that are running ESPresense, and all sending data to a Pi running Home Assistant.
They also monitor my smart watch! But I normally know where I am. Setting it up has been a fun project and I've learned loads!

battery power on the garden ESPresense is nowhere near what I had calculated, lasting only 12.5 hours with solar panel on a very sunny day (8800mAh lipo).
does anyone know if ESP32s are OK with frequent power cycling? ie if I use an external timer relay to turn on for 1 min, off for 4 mins? #ESP32 #ESPresense
Absolute Revelation this morning - Fury sleeps on my bed, currently he wakes me up at about 6. According to the Panopticat, he goes downstairs and faffs about for 20 minutes first!

Pleased this worked. ESPresence uses a whole ESP32 to run, you can add a few sensors to it but the BME688 I use for air quality monitoring isn't supported.
Solution - add yet either ESP32. The purple one is a smaller Lolin-S2-mini. It doesn't have blue tooth so can't run ESPresense. Here, it's taking power from the ESP32 Wroom (that's running ESPresense) and running the BME688, so the pair of them only use one USB plug. Now I've added the lounge to the panopticat! #ESPresense #ESPhome
I was looking for a good way to implement presence detection for my office. Since I have a few #ESP32 at home I searched for a way to integrate them with Bluetooth LE detection and my #Homeassistant to turn off the lights.
What I found is #ESPresense (https://espresense.com/) and it works amazingly well, just needs some parameter tweaks.
