I have #EssentialTremor and other dexterity problems that have been getting worse, so I figured switching to a mechanical keyboard would make typing easier. While I've been waiting to get a nice one, I periodically step into a thrift store and see if they have any.

Today I found one at Goodwill for $7.99 (MSRP ~$50 -- it's not a very high qual one), and my suspicions have been confirmed: it is soooo much easier to type using this than a membrane keyboard. The "clicky" feedback of the keys is enough to prevent me from hitting the wrong key or the same key twice, which I had been doing so much before it was making writing and programming really difficult for me.

Anyways, a lot of people talk about how mechanical keyboards are better for typing faster etc, but I'd like to add that they're actually way more accessible for some people. I imagine one that's both mechanical and ergo/dactyl would be even better, but this is already a huge difference

@Oryx I feel you completely. I spent 15-20 years begging drs to realize that there was other things going on than the #SpinaBifida and #chiari I was born with that they blamed everything on. I have since been diagnosed with a type of #MD, #Lupus, #Sjögrens , #RLS , #essentialtremor, #narcolepsy , #mcas, #mastocytosis, and I got sick every time I ate because my gallbladder was at 15% function which they ignored and told me I was fat. ALL of that was supposed to be JUST my Spina Bifida.

#EssentialTremor makes it harder to apply eyedrops after #cataract surgery and lens replacement. Farsighted artificial lenses and essential tremor make it harder to trim fingernails and toot. But, I am still very pleased with the surgery outcomes and know reading glasses will help me.
