Feels slightly odd to not be doing a stage of the #EssexWay this week, but probably good for my knee to be taking a rest from long walks for a little bit. Here's my writeup of last week's final section of the Way:

On my walk on Wednesday, I followed a right of way through the EDME factory at Mistley. I've done it a few times before, but never looked up the company so I've only just discovered that the company name is an acronym for the wonderfully Victorian English Diastatic Malt Extract Company.

Too busy walking to link this yesterday, but her's my post about day 4 of the #EssexWay from West Bergholt to Lawford #walking #hiking

Day 5 on the #EssexWay today, and a really good walk to finish it off. So kuchen to see on the final stage: coastline, wide open fields, big skies, a house designed by Grayson Perry, a windmill, and a final walk along the coast into Harwich. Definitely recommended as a walk if you're looking to get out there and explore somewhere new and different. #walking #hiking #Essex

Day 4 on the Essex Way, and a really nice fifteen miles from West Bergholt to Lawford. A lot of the day was in the Dedham Vale, surrounded by great scenery and pretty villages of rhe Stour Valley with a lunch stop in Dedham before the last few miles of the afternoon. One more day of walking along the Stour Estuary next week! #walking #hiking #EssexWay #Essex

When I started my #EssexWay walk, I was planning to walk mostly on Wednesdays, but various weather and World Cup semi-final issues got in the way of that. But today I'm on a bus to West Bergholt, ready to pick up where I left off last week and head towards Manningtree. #walking #hiking #Essex

Day 3 on the #EssexWay today, really nice walk from White Notley to West Bergholt. Lots of walking by hedgerows at the edge of fields and along rivers while farmers baled hay in the fields. Ended up approaching Colchester through the Colne Valley and seeing the change in landscape again as I headed upwards at the end of the day - even a shallow incline's tiring after sixteen miles! #walking #hiking #Essex

Getting ready for the third day of my #EssexWay walk. Getting to the sections closer to home, so can catch a much more reasonably timed train and get home with a single bus journey.
And tomorrow I'll be back out there, heading from White Notley to West Bergholt. #EssexWay
Written up the second day of this summer's journey along the #EssexWay. This section is from Pepper's Green to White Notley, passing around to the north of Chelmsford on a warm sunny day.

So it was hot, it was longer than I thought (twenty miles) and the nettles were determined to make me regret wearing shorts but s6age 2 of my #EssexWay walk was a really nice day out. Lovely countryside, mostly flat terrain, pretty little villages and a nice pub for lunch. And a long one today means future stages are shorter, hopefully. #walking #hiking #Essex

Probably wasn't the best day to discover that my second stage of the Essex Way was a few miles longerbthan I thought! Exhausted, but another great walk and on way home to cool down now... #walking #hiking #EssexWay https://strava.app.link/HSki2kvC9Bb
They say there's an entrepreneurial spirit in Essex, but no one in the village of Good Easter has realised it would be a great location for a chocolate shop. Nice bus stop library, though and would ypu to see a sleepy cat basking in the early sun? Of course you would... #EssexWay #walking #hiking
That's just day 1 of hopefully 5 on the Essex Way over this month, really enjoyed it and looking forward to the rest. Honestly surprised at how little this path is walked and more people aren't trying it. Will be writing about it in the coming days, but definitely recommend trying it out if you're looking for a good country walk in SE England. #walking #hiking #EssexWay
Great day's walking on the Essex Way. Sixteen or so miles from Epping to Pepper's Green through some gorgeous countryside including beautiful woods and fields stretching on for miles all around us. Surprise discovery of the world's oldest wooden church on the way, and some lovely sections through woods and along a river. #hiking #walking #Essex #EssexWay

After missing a bus in the depths of Essex by 2 minutes, am now finally journeying home after finishing my first day on the Essex Way. Some really nice walking and fascinating countryside, more details and photos later but for now I leave you with this place we passed, sounding like a posh person describing their IBS symptoms. #walking #Essex #EssexWay
Decided on my next walk: during August I'm going to walk the Essex Way. Have walked along the eastern parts of it near Colchester a lot, but never done the whole thing. Going to do it in five stages, but in five weeks rather than five days, walking one a week. Going to use public transport to get to and from the start for each one, and then writing it all up in what will hopefully be a useful guide for others who want to try it.
