A jury has ruled that the 2014 Will of singer #ArethaFranklin is valid, and supplants the 2010 Will.
Both were handwritten & signed, both included all of her children, and neither was ever certified by a lawyer. The 2010 Will was found in a drawer among #Aretha's #estate, and the 2014 version was found inside the cushions of a couch.
The jury ruled the 2014 Will showed "clear intent" in its writing.

They missed a golden opportunity to rule that the Berne Copyright Convention is incompatible with the US Constitition, and that, as directed by the #constitution , #copyright in the US is currently unconstitutional and should expire after 28 years.
#Copyright was intended to last for a limited time, not to provide a continuing income stream for creators, and certainly not for the #heirs and #estates.

King Charles and the late Queen Elizabeth II have received payments equivalent to more than ÂŁ1bn from two land and property estates that are at the centre of a centuries-old debate over whether their profits should be given to the public instead.
An investigation by the Guardian has established the full scale of income extracted by the royals from the duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall, which run giant portfolios of land and property across England.
The duchies operate as professionally run real estate empires that manage swathes of farmland, hotels, medieval castles, offices, shops and some of London’s prime luxury real estate. They also have substantial investment portfolios, but pay no corporation tax or capital gains tax."

Jacques Necker (l. 1732-1804) was a Swiss banker and statesman who served as finance minister to King Louis XVI of France (r. 1774-1792). He served in the king's ministry three separate times, tasked with navigating France through its dire financial crisis. Initially popular amongst the common people, Necker played a significant role in the outset of the French Revolution (1789-1799).
