Going to share something that I haven't talked about on Mastodon yet. Today marks 3 years of no contact with my #narcissist mom and, by extension because she cultivates her enablers like a champ, most of my family. It's been by turns liberating and excruciating. I won't say they live rent-free in my head but the rent is certainly reduced! If any of you are experiencing #estrangement and want to compare notes or just get your anger on to a sympathetic ear I'm here for it.

Woke up depressed AF.

Spent the first hour awake, crying my eyes out, convinced my husband wants a divorce & that my son will want nothing to do with me when he gets a step mum to compare me to.

Thank goddess I've pulled myself together before either of them have woken up.

I hate Christmas. Its the one time of year I hear from both of my parents with mind games, within a few days of each other & it triggers the hell out of me.

My mother, who last spoke to me 8 months ago, messaged to say if I was thinking of buying Christmas gifts I should donate to charity instead. I've already ordered a gift for delivery. Her response, 'can you cancel the gift?' Years of being belittled by her came to a crux over covid where, alone in the first 12 weeks, separated from my new partner, in tears, I was told, 'everyone finds it hard'. If I don't do exactly what she wants, I'm punished. I'm so tired.
