Here's a concept that I reckon would be useful in the apps we use in chat networks like @xmpp and @matrix; disposable breakout rooms. These would work like any other private, E2EE, group chat, but created with a specific purpose, and a specific expiry time, with no history kept. This could be useful for a focused chat on a topic, with notes recorded elsewhere, eg an EtherPad or CryptPad, to be integrated into to more permanent documentation.

Nun, dank einiger Empfehlungen bin ich jetzt Admin zweier cloudron.io Instanzen. Bin super happy. Im Grunde gibts dort 1-Click-Installer für #Nextcloud, #Etherpad, #Moodle, #Wordpress, eigene shortURL, #Jitsi-Server und noch tausend extras mehr.

Ja, das Abo ist nicht ganz günstig, aber hey: ich brauch nichts in die Kommandozeile hämmern. 😎

Most of you don't care but we managed to release #etherpad 1.9.0 yesterday after me personally taking nearly two years off the project.

I also found time today to triage the bugs.

There was no public internet at WIPO back then, so we set up an ad-hoc network off one of our laptops (thankfully, they'd just installed electrical outlets at some of the NGO delegation seats), then used #Etherpad to create a shared document. We traded off transcribing the remarks with correcting typos and then annotating the text with plain-language descriptions of what was really going on.

Currently the default direction is set by the default language. So if you set interface language to e.g. Hebrew, all the pads you work on become right-to-left.

I'm pretty sure setting up #Etherpad was a bad idea. Its plugins are all out of touch and outdated, they don't work together... so stuff like Markdown doesn't include inline code blocks, and it does odd stuff with newlines and lists (as did I, I suppose).
It might have been better for me to set up a #Gemini to HTTP proxy for this purpose, although then I lose rich text editing.

I cannot seem to get #Keycloak to work with #Etherpad's /admin. I have it configured to set the Etherpad user property is_admin to the value of the etherpad_administrator claim. I don't think there's a way without making a JAR of a JS file (why??? and how do I do that with docker anyway?) to add such a claim _if_ a user has some role.
