2001: K & I were in Vegas for a #startrek convention. We went walkabout one evening & found an #Ethiopian restaurant in a tiny strip mall. New cuisine for us. During the meal the chef rushed out to apologize. He’d made the dish traditionally: rare meat and deadly hot spices. “I didn’t know you were…I would have made it differently.” We white folk were crying spicy tears over the best meal ever and thanked him for making it authentic. 2023: I just joyfully cried into my 2nd ever Ethiopian dish
