"Normalcy" is relatively, and they've masked for a long time in the East.
Beit a consequence of ethnocentric hyper-individualism at some high brow level; or more obvious prejudices at a lower level, it comes down to racism.

Group nepotism is when relatedness is combined with #coordination, i.e., there is sufficient #ingroup #solidarity
for the group to act as a #collective.
