Hey, can anybody linuxy-networky confirm singing for me? I've got an Ubuntu server that i built relatively recently, when i build a new desktop the server gets the guts of the old desktop as a sort of hand me down upgrade.
I use netdata to monitor and when a lot of the docker containers kick off at the same time I overrun the skb fifo ring buffer. So there a lot of retransmits and general inefficiency I'd like to tune the system to handle like I have before
In the past I've used ethtool with -g to see the current and max values, she in the past I've always had some headroom, so I'd increase the size a little with -G until the errors were rare or gone, trying not to eat up all my headroom and set it to the max size blindly because that comes with it's own penalties
But when i try this on this build, I get InvalidError Operation Not Supported
I've got two ideas and i hate them both. Either a) the driver doesn't support getting or setting those values and I can't try to find a different driver that works or change it to a different nic. b) systemd has hijacked this corner of what i used to know on Jammy Jellyfish and there's some new way to do things or c) something else entirely that isn't apparent to me
Anyone got any ideas?
