Are they old, incredibly ancient, or do they just act that way? Whatever, they tend to know things first, and she’s learned to value that. The Etruscan and the others spy on the Project all the time. That’s what they call it. But mainly it was the City taking up her time, because Rez & Rei were there, shadows among the other shadows, working on their Project. The said it was the craziest thing since they’d turned that first killfile inside out.

, William Gibson:
EPILOGUE (Fables of the Reconstruction)
Hak Nam rose before Chia. The is growing. Being grown. A thing of random human accretion, monstrous & superb, it is being reconstituted here, retranslated from its later incarnation as a realm of consensual fantasy.
Now Chia checks into the City, hears the gossip in a favorite barbershop in Sai Shing Road. The is there, sometimes, with & the & the other ghosts he hangs with & they tolerate her.

Were These Giant Carved Stones Used to Make Ancient Italian Wine? - Gastro Obscura
atlasobscura.com/articles/anci

This simple, intuitive technique offers insight into how the Etruscans may have made their wine. Etruscans are widely believed to have taught winemaking to the Romans and the people living in modern-day France, making their practices the foundations of both Italian and French wine.

Going off topic with this memory of a less chilly day in the rolling hills of northern , an area which is magical to me. It belongs to the ancient Etruria, the heartland of the civilisation.
This is the view from the Ara della Regina, the ruin of a large religious complex from which one can observe all the surrounding area. It's is relatively difficult to reach which gives it a remote feeling and makes the mind wonder.

Boccale Castle, Livorno
✅The Boccale Castle is an imposing castle perched atop a steep cliff on the Etruscan coast, known as the “Cala dei Pirati” (den of pirates in English).
✅ From the Castello del Boccale, a magnificent castle recently renovated, it is possible to admire the wild landscape of rocky coast that surrounds it, the crystal clear waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea and the den of pirates.

"Talking Pots" 👉 Our fellow David Hack looks at an inscription. The rather plain fragment of a bowl reveals its location and offers information on the use of Attic ceramics in Etruria.

“While there were social and civil wars being fought outside the sanctuary ... inside the sanctuary the great elite Etruscan and Roman families prayed together in a context of peace surrounded by conflict,” Tabolli said. “This possibility to rewrite the relationship and dialectic between the Etruscan and Romans is an exceptional opportunity.”
