The courts as guardians of the environment and of social justice have a potentially groundbreaking role in the fundamental transformation to sustainability. Kudos to Greenpeace, Client Earth and other organisations for their innovative and creative use of law for good. greenpeace.org/eu-unit/issues/

Well this is a surprise (not). Businesses and the public want to keep EU regulations if they improve accountability, product safety, and employment standards. That’s pretty much all of them. JRM and co. must be fuming! 🇪🇺

Sustainability talk can be a deflection device away from continued unsustainabilities. How can the fundamental transformation to sustainability be faciliated? What can and should the EU do? These are the questions that I pose together with two colleagues, my co-editors of the volume Sustainable Value Creation in the European Union, outlining the contributions this volume contains. Comments appreciated! jus.uio.no/english/research/ar

Great to see the 2022 MPI Yearbook of European Procedural Law published! I contributed with a paper on the interplay between and in the of , focusing on the FBF case. I argue that a stark bifurcation of the question of validity from that of bindingness in has implications concerning the effects of EU law, as well as its application. The production of legal effects by an EU act (bindingness) is part of the broader assessment of validity.

Finally, my editor's copies of Sustainable Value Creation in the European Union! I am so glad that we as editors could dedicate this book to the people of Greece - in addition to personal dedications to our own families. The volume springs out of a conference we organised in 2015(!) in Greece, in response to the crisis in Greece, which we saw as a symptom of broader European and global problems rather than as a Greek problem.

What are your views, @EC_OSPO, on that claim that the EU is about to outlaw the package repositories of distributions and other operating systems?

Are the and repositories and the and ports collections "software application stores"? Does the proposed law actually say that something is banned?

In my first blogpost as a Ph.D. candidate, on European Law Blog I analyse case LF v SCRL and the Court’s reluctance to engage in an intersectional analysis of synergistic religious and gender discrimination in the Islamic headscarf judgment.

‘In a week where alarm bells are being sounded over fundamental crises across the NHS, where concerns continue to mount over the rising cost of living, and workers’ rights and working conditions remain a fundamental concern, carelessly provoking a crisis of legal uncertainty—with knock-on implications for those very issues—is deeply irresponsible.’

How one pioneering Italian woman transformed EU law.

Europe, it seems, needs more people like Wilma Viscardini. In the 1950s, she became the first female lawyer in the Italian town of Rovigo and one of the few in the entire country specialising in European law.

Together with a handful of lawyers in Germany, Italy and France, Viscardini decided to start pioneering the legal construction of Europe during the 1970s and 1980s.

If the retained EU Law Bill becomes law, EU-derived workers’ rights inc holiday pay, working time and equal pay protections could be swept away on 1 January 2024 - as well as laws relating to wildlife, animal protection and the natural environment tuc.org.uk/blogs/countdown-sta

I was planning to start my holiday today but Luxembourg intervened.

Anyway, the court says Italy can make Airbnb collect rental tax.

: Short-term : does not preclude the requirement to collect information or to withhold tax under a national regime Airbnb.
