This meme was invented specifically for Martin throwing shade at continuing to be by far the cringiest country. I hope he enjoyed a good chuckle when the reprimand landed in his inbox.

My article in this week's Common Weal Newsletter.

Recent auctions of German offshore wind show, once again, just how much Scotland lost by botching the ScotWind auction.

The devil is in the detail however, with oil companies possibly paying to protect their oil investments rather than moving into renewables.

The French State is ordered to compensate the victims of air pollution after being found responsible for not doing enough to prevent it.

Meanwhile, the two contenders for PM of the UK after the next election are both campaigning against cutting air pollution.

This is what a country that gets its information about what the does, what its role in our lives is and what really means from Boris Johnson's Torygraph columns, TVP, Berlusconi's rags or Axel 's Politico Europe () looks like:

“I voted for Brexit because I thought it was actually going to make it easier for me to buy a home and live in the Med"

This is a very interesting story. One key conclusion stands out: VDL's behaviour may be the result from her lack of primeministerial experience.
I was also wondering, while reading, what does 'powerful' mean when defining VDL's term so far (there's a quote from Desmond Dinan that she's the most powerful Commission president after Delors). This is quite the statement that needs further clarification

"In the wake of the hottest week since records began, the passing of a gutted nature restoration law feels very much like a scorched earth victory."

Schwarzbuch Axel Voss:

Im Streit um die Urheberrechtsreform war jemand, der sich im Umgang mit uns gar nicht vorstellen konnte, dass andere Politiker*innen nicht auch genauso machen, nur halt von der Gegenseite.

Owen Jones writes about the rise of the far right in Europe, and how the “creep of normalisation” is making their growth all the more worrying.

"Across the western world, mainstream parties tend not to vigorously oppose the far right and offer an alternative vision of the future, but imitate their rhetoric and policies. All they’ve achieved is legitimising the zealots and allowing them to set the terms of debate"

If you want to see what Rishi Sunak’s Tories hope to achieve with their “stop the boats” policy – and the brutal reality that underlies it – look to Greece.
Greece, Bulgaria and Poland have been accused of forcibly turning away migrants – at terrible human cost.

The Green Party have stood over homelessness, evictions, screwing over institutional survivors and migrants, and much more.

They justified all this to themselves by saying it would all be worth it because if they went into government, they could reduce emissions.

On paris's ban on rental scooters:

Considering how the rentals are scattered around they should rather work on a charging infrastructure and regulation than banning them which is really really stupid imho

Like what's so difficult about standardizing the charging stations and placing them in places where they do not block or obstruct the road/sidewalk and making people undergo some form of a training?

Judging by my experience in Brno where too many people seem to operate the escooters in an unsafe way.. Where the major difference seems to be people with a driver's license vs people without it.. as people with driver's license seems to generally apply the knowledge gained from driving the car like driving defensively and do not endanger people around you to the escooters while those without it just put the escooter to the max speed and drive on the sidewalk like retards.

For full transparency i have a driver's license and use my personal escoter with combination of tram and train as a preferred method to travel around central EU in both i can just fold it and have it as a personal luggage which takes less space than a small backpack (as i can put it between my legs in both standing and sitting position to not be an issue in a packed tram) and can be charged in the train at the luggage area.

Opinion: Renewable energy gathered through non-green processes such as blue hydrogen should be considered in areas where green form is not available as any kind of reduction in emmisions is a good thing, but they should be priced right to give significant incentives to migrate on green hydrogen.

As a part of today’s efforts to procrastinate, I created a Wikipedia page for Volt Ukraine (Ukraine’s branch of the Volt Europa party). Somehow, it didn’t exist, but that absence has since been rectified.
