Men's elite race from #eurocross22 was just full of massive gaps for most of the race, and unfortunately the battle for 4th tp 6th which did look very exciting we hardly got to see any of on tv.

Vanthourenhout deserved winner, not only did he have the legs but he kept it very composed in very tricky conditions. Van der Haar just made to many mistakes, and it seems like the conditions robbed us of some of the other contenders.

The televised races from #eurocross22 day 2 didn't just reach the same level as day 1, but some great racing over the entire weekend.

Women's U23 race was totally dominated by Puck from start to finish, really was never in doubt and she was so far ahead of everyone else it just amazes me even more that she didn't do the elite race instead. Burquier had an excellent race in 2nd. The crash for Backstedt looked nasty, but not sure it changed much. 1/2

That technical descend keeps being underestimated. Even Puck Pieterse, probably the most technically gifted women in cycloscross, had to put a foot out.

Just caught up with #eurocross22 on GCN+ (worth every penny)

U23 men's was packed with action from start to finish. Ronhaar just totally blew up on that last lap, the chase back from Nys was just a bit to much. Toneatti in 4th was the start of a very impressive day for Italy.

Women's elite race was all about Fem van Empel, she was on another level. Treat to watch that sort of performance. PFP & Vos with a lot of ground to make up. Casasola 5th for Italy.

Seems there's 3 strategies for starting, depending highly on your grid position:
1) You absolutely storm to the front, to stay ahead of the pile up at the funnel halfway on the climb
2) You take a very easy steady pace and let the pile up resolve itself
3) You join in the pile up

Looking forward to the #eurocross22 European Championships this weekend.

Hard to look past Fem van Empel for the elite women's race, not only does she seem to be in brilliant form but her race management just seems to be top-notch. For the elite men's race? Lars van der Haar has been absolutely flying the last few races!

Also looking forward to being able to watch the U23 races as well, though Saturday's races will have to be on demand on GCN later in the day.
