And the upcoming vacation will be climate-friendly, as well as last year. Out of 1450 km per trip, only the last 2 km will not be by train. In between, an estimated 600 km are added by bike.

Two positive outcomes.

Since the #EuroNight spends more time stabled in Berlin than Stockholm, routine maintenance is now being conducted there (by Talgo) instead of in Stockholm.

Delayed southbound trains will now be curtailed in Hamburg and a new cleaning contract has been signed to service the train in case this happens.

Interesting reflections from SJ, on Järnvägar.nu, about the poor performance of the Stockholm - Hamburg #EuroNight train since it was extended to/from Berlin on 31 March.

- 14 Apr: catenary ripped down by another train. EuroNight was 6hrs late into Stockholm.
- Next southbound train was 3hrs late, missed Rendsburger High Bridge curfew before weekend works.
- No time to visit wheel lathe in Hagalund, had to run slower without brakes in 2 cars.

By the way, I wonder how many Swedes think that #EuroNight is a trademark of #SJ for this #nightTrain between Stockholm and Hamburg (and now, Berlin). That’s the impression one easily gets from their marketing material. In reality, EuroNight (EN) is a generic classification used for a lot of night trains in continental Europe.

A small DB presence spotted on this #SJ #EuroNight service: The blankets are of old DB stock. (But DB is not involved in running the service; the German cooperation partner of #SJ is #RDC https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_Development_Corporation )

Not professional wor, but will have to do. The sleeping car where I had booked a single occupancy compartment is not present in the train, so I was assigned a single occupancy couchette compartment instead. Which means that I had to make the bed myself. And the berth is much worse quality than in a proper sleeping car, of course. But I will get a 25% refund. Good night! #SleepingCar content from a couple of years back: on board #Euronight #Zürichsee - from #Graz 🇦🇹 to #Zurich🇨🇭 in an #ÖBB WLAB AB30/P sleeper. This is the former #CIWL “type P” #4538 after a substantial transformation, yet the old CIWL number is sill visible on the under-frame and it is engraved into the opening window.
The #Arlberg line is closed for works: this is why we travel, in August 2011, on a slightly northerly route via the #Allgäu 🇩🇪, hauled by two DB class 218 diesels.

I tried to book the #euronight train from the #nightjet #OBB website, but I can't. Possible connexion I found was either via Zurich, Basel, Frankfurt, Mannhein or even Paris+Wien.
