I have posted before that #goldfinches perch on the #telephone #wire outside my house but they’re only there for a few moments at a time. Just a couple of days ago, there were four or more there but again, too fleetingly for me to grab my camera. Well, this morning, this #EuropeanGoldfinch stuck around long enough for me to get a #photograph it.
The early worm catches the #bird.

It was only there for a matter of seconds and so it was impossible to reach for my camera. Earlier on, another #bird got “trapped” in the porch – the door had shut slightly and it couldn’t find its way out. Luckily, all I needed to do was open the door fully to liberate it.

Today a #EuropeanGoldfinch visited even though I’ve seen them in other places earlier in the year. They are in my opinion the most beautiful of the domestic bird species we get.

986 followers · 10873 posts · Server mastodon.org.ukSitting in the #garden after work this evening and there are several #birds around, including #sparrows and #pigeons. I even spotted a #EuropeanGoldfinch once I heard its distinctive tweeting and observed it with my binoculars.
Mind you the peace was punctuated as a military transport #aeroplane performed three #circuits and my house is on the turn between the #downwind and #baseleg of the #runway. Quite impressive nevertheless.

Today I saw several #sparrows a #bluetit foraging and a couple of days ago I saw a #EuropeanGoldfinch. #WoodPigeons, #blackbirds and #crows have been around for some time and I’m guessing that they’re less affected by adverse weather.
