@toddo on top of that there's bias based on the difficulty of the class and on the introduction of new concepts that the students don't believe will benefit them. We're negotiating this with warning introductions to the person reading the evals for, say, tenure or promotion. We're going to include more summaries of the class size and nature but our Uni bylaws say that they must be collected and used.bso we'll warn you and use them less I guess.

Rating distributions might help to critically question if performance expectations are ambitious or if #evaluations are fair enough. But there is no law of nature that 6% (#Google) or even 10-15% (#Amazon, #Meta, #Salesforce) are “low performers”. Not everybody can or needs to be a high performer. Still, if everybody is doing their job according to expectations, the “low performers category” could simply be empty - although you might always find a few employees in this category.
