thought it was about time I did an #introducton.
I live in Australia and have a wife & two (adult) sons.

I have an older account on another instance but felt like kind of starting again.
We live close to the beach, yet hardly ever go because I am a vampire (burns in the sun, strong aversion to bright light).

Too many see #evcars as some kind of statement. Fact is, electric motors are simply more reliable, more efficient, more maintenance free, and less polluting than gas cars. Remember, there are three main groups trying to steer you otherwise; OPEC, oil companies, and NADA (auto dealers) who have trillions of dollars at stake. Yes, they are too expensive and range, though improving, is limited. But it's still a young evolving tech with lots of room to improve.

Strongly considering getting a level 2 charger at the house. I’d much rather be having my coffee in front of my TV and be warm than in the cold rain.

@arskinF it is my thought that in the next 5 years the first adopters will have the pain of waiting for the needed infrastructure and paying the price of battery development. Chinese cars will dominate in this period as they have a well established manufacturing industry. The idea cars will be cheaper with subsidies is a myth but after the government and fleet cars hit the roads in numbers individual buyers will benefit from the rush of manufacturers vying for market share.
Maybe the BYD model might prove popular with private owners - you own the car they own the batteries. They have the technology to exchange charged batteries for depleted one in a 5 minute window.
I hope you enjoy your EV it is unlikely to happen in my life’s horizon. EV development is just one change needed in an economy build on fossil fuels.

Speaking of cars, still no update on "my" VW ID.4. The page tells me a "Pick Up" date of between November and January. Not that I think I will be able to actually buy the car I "ordered" in March. It really isn't in the cards, financially, right now. But our 11 yo minivan needs some major repairs, so some kind of decision must be made. I know where I'd spend our money, but it needs to be a unanimous decision and that isn't likely. #cars #evcars
